My first thoughts on this assignment are not very positive. Unfortunately I do not live in an area that I am particularly keen to show off and I have certain worries regarding undertaking this assignment.
I live in a small section of a very large housing estate. As a small bit of history, the town that I live in was once a thriving market town steeped in history but now the crumbling historical monuments are only a reminder of the importance that the town once held. The town centre itself is now a ghostly scene filled with few people and many boarded up shop fronts and public houses, the bustling streets of days gone by lost to pedestrianization and the arrival of big named supermarkets to the outskirts of town. The vast amount of charity shops and pound shops now mirroring the poverty and lifestyle of so many, in an area where wealth is not overly evident.
My immediate estate had no wealth at all. It has a reputation of being crime stricken and known for being rough, however, it's kept by housing associations and filled with a vast array of people from young singles to families, to elderly couples.
I have really had to think about how I intend to undertake this assignment, especially in my immediate area.
